Baramulla, Mar 30 : Senior political leader and former minister Syed Basharat Bukhari on Saturday urged J&K administration to install a bridge over Fresthar Nallah at Sheikhpora so that students are able to reach the local higher secondary school.
In a statement to news agency, the former minister, who has twice represented erstwhile Sangrama constituency in J&K Assembly, said that students are facing immense hardships in absence of the bridge.
“They have to walk through a Nallah to reach the local higher secondary school, however, in the absence of a bridge, they are not able to make it, particularly in the rainy season when water discharge is high,” Bukhari said.
Bukhari regretted that the school had to be closed today as students couldnot cross the Nallah after the makeshift culvert collapsed due to intense water flow.
He further added that the DPR for the said bridge stands already approved and even token money or Rs 20 lakh has also been released but the work has not been initiated on the site yet. Bukhari said that the administration should act swiftly and start the work on the project besides making immediate temporary arrangements so that students do not suffer any more.
