Self-Defense Training program organized for women in Rajouri

RAJOURI, OCTOBER 10: The Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with Yasmeen Karate Academy Rajouri conducted a Self-Defense Training program at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Rajouri.

The initiative, aimed at empowering young women, was part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign, which seeks to promote the safety, education and well-being of girls and women.

The program, led by skilled martial arts experts from Yasmeen Karate Academy, focused on practical self-defense techniques, providing participants with the skills to safeguard themselves in critical situations. The training not only enhanced physical resilience but also boosted mental confidence, helping the participants feel more secure in their daily lives.

Nitu Sharma, Centre Administrator of the One Stop Centre for Women, Rajouri, raised awareness about women’s rights and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering self-confidence and a sense of security among young women. She highlighted the necessity of continued efforts to ensure women’s safety through education and practical training.

Also in attendance were Bismah, District Coordinator of Childline, and Reetu Sharma, Pharmacist, who contributed to the discussions on the role of education and health in societal upliftment. They provided valuable insights on the holistic development of women, linking physical empowerment to broader social and educational growth.

The enthusiastic response from the participants reflected the success of the training, which was praised for its interactive and practical approach. The collaboration between the Social Welfare Department and Yasmeen Karate Academy exemplifies a strong commitment to equipping women with essential self-defense skills, ensuring their safety and empowerment in all aspects of life.

This training marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to create a safer, more empowered community for women in Rajouri.
