ANANTNAG, MAY 17: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr. Syeed Fakhruddin Hamid in a District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting convened, here today emphasized the critical need to identify and address blind and black spots on roads to prevent further accidents in the district.
SF Hamid highlighted the ongoing road safety initiatives, including the installation of crash barriers, road signage and parapets aimed at enhancing commuter safety across the district.
He urged executing agencies to submit plans promptly for implementation in the current financial year to ensure swift action on road safety initiatives, emphasizing the importance of road widening and parking spaces for public convenience and safety.
The meeting witnessed discussions on accident data analysis using the I-RAD platform, with particular attention to month-wise mishaps for comprehensive action. The measures taken by the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) for traffic decongestion and against traffic violators were also reviewed.
Active participation from committee members led to extensive discussions on various road safety matters, with strategies proposed to enhance road safety across the district. He also directed stakeholders to conduct rigorous road safety awareness programs, form road safety clubs, involve NGOs, and engage young people in spreading the message of safer roads.
The DC urged all the stakeholders to take responsibility and pledged to follow traffic rules while encouraging others to do the same. He emphasized the importance of collective effort in saving lives lost to accidents, calling upon all to be road safety brand ambassadors.
Given the significance of the subject, SF Hamid announced plans to convene quarterly meetings to review progress and ensure the effective implementation of decisions taken.
