Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Final Arrangements for Home Voting process reviewed at Anantnag
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegram

ANANTNAG, MAY 17: In preparation for the upcoming home voting process scheduled to commence from May 19 in 3-Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency, a comprehensive review meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) for postal ballots today at the VC Hall of DC Office Complex Anantnag.

The meeting was informed that this historic initiative, marking the first instance of home voting in a Lok Sabha Election, aims to extend the franchise to the elderly and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Eligible voters above 85 years of age and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) with a 40% benchmark disability are entitled to avail the optional home voting facility.

This progressive step underscores the commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in the electoral process, thereby fostering greater democratic participation.

The meeting deliberated extensively on the home voting process. Key arrangements have been meticulously put in place to facilitate a seamless voting experience, with a particular emphasis on catering to the needs of those with special requirements.
Stringent measures have been instituted to uphold the integrity of the voting process.
