KUPWARA, MAY 17: On the directions of District Election Officer Kupwara and in order to foster greater electoral participation ahead of the Lok Sabha election 2024, a mock parliament session was organized today by the Education Department under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program in collaboration with Government Degree College (GDC) Women’s Kupwara.
The event, held at GDC Women’s Kupwara, witnessed active participation of students.
The mock parliament aimed to educate and engage young minds on the parliamentary procedures and the functioning of the Indian Parliament. The program highlighted various aspects of parliamentary business, providing students with a realistic and comprehensive understanding of democratic processes.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Principal GDC Women’s Kupwara, Prof. Farooq Faizan; Deputy Chief Education Officer Kupwara, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat; Assistant Nodal Officer SVEEP; Principal Dalhousie School Salkoot and Zonal Cultural Coordinator Kupwara.
Prof. Farooq Faizan, in his address, emphasized the significance of active electoral participation for the health of the democracy. He applauded the students for their enthusiastic participation and encouraged them to be proactive in spreading awareness about the electoral process.
Deputy Chief Education Officer highlighted the role of education in fostering informed and responsible citizens. He stressed that programs like these are crucial for empowering youth to contribute positively to the democratic process.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the organizers, expressing gratitude to all participants and dignitaries for their support and involvement.
