Srinagar, May 21 : The residents of several areas in Srinagar on Tuesday accused the authorities for ignoring their plights, saying that they are grappling with acute water scarcity, exacerbating their daily struggles.

The affected areas as per the news agency includes Zafran Colony, Pandrethan, Athwajan, Batmaloo, Lasjan, Qamarwari, and Noorbagh, Bagh E Mehtab among others.

The Chief Engineer of the Jal Shakti department (PHE), Vivek Kohli, when contacted told KNO the water shortage has been witnessed due to the fault in the Motor at Tangdhar.

Assuring swift action, the Chief Engineer stated that restoration work is currently underway, and they are on the job for resolving the matter by this evening.

The residents however, expressed frustration over the prolonged water scarcity.

One of the locals from Lane 4 of Zafran Colony Srinagar told news agency, the discrepancy between the annual fees they pay, amounting to Rs 3000, and the inadequate water supply they receive in return.

“We have been facing this issue for a long time now, and it’s affecting our daily lives,” remarked a resident of Zafran Colony, adding that “we understand that faults can occur, but the lack of timely resolution is unacceptable, especially considering the fees we pay.”
