MMU appreciates action against public drinking incident on Dal Lake

Srinagar, Jun 13 : Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU), comprising leaders and representatives of religious, educational and social institutions of Jammu and Kashmir, under the leadership of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Molvi Umar Farooq expressed satisfaction that the administration and police have taken notice and acted against the outrageous incident of public drinking by a group of people on Shikara in Dal Lake.

A statement issued to the news agency, said that following the public outrage and MMU’s strong  protest against the incident , its delegation’s outreach to Shikara and Houseboat Unions and hoteliers associations  assured full cooperation in preventing and averting such occurrences in future.

Majlis-e-Ulama said that it in view of the growing concern around pressing social issues confronting the society, including drug addiction, increase in suicides , domestic abuse , moral decay and other such problems , it will convene a meeting of the delegates after EID Ul Azha , inshallah. Heads and key members of religious, social, and educational institutions, as well as members of civil society and intellectuals will be invited to the meeting for deliberations.

The following organizations are part of the United Council of Scholars of Jammu and Kashmir: Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar, Darul Uloom Raheemiya Bandipora, Mufti Azam’s Muslim Personal Law Board, Anjuman Shari Shian, Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith, Karwan Islami, Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, Anjuman Himayat-ul-Islam, Anjuman Tabligh-ul-Islam, Jamiat Hamdania, Anjuman Ulama-e-Ahnaf, Darul Uloom Qasmiya, Darul Uloom Bilaliya, Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam, Anjuman Mazhar-ul-Haq, Jamiat-ul-Aimmah wal Ulama, Anjuman Aimmah wa Mashaikh Kashmir, Darul Uloom Naqshbandiya, Darul Uloom Rasheediya, Ahl-e-Bait Foundation, Madrasa Kanz-ul-Uloom, Pirwan-e-Wilayat, Auqaf Islamia Khiram Sirhama, Bazm-e-Tawheed Ahl-e-Hadith Trust, Anjuman Tanzeem-ul-Makatib, Muhammadi Yateem Trust, Anjuman Anwar-ul-Islam, Karwan Khatm-e-Nabuwat, Darul Uloom Syed-ul-Mursaleen, Anjuman Ulama wa Aimmah Masajid, Falah Darain Trust Welfare Society Islamabad, Ashraf-ul-Uloom Hyderpora, Darul Uloom Daoudiya Batamaloo, Darul Uloom Farqaniya Nowshera, Darul Uloom Daoudiya Khanyar, Jamiat-ul-Ulama, Siraj-ul-Uloom, Idara Wahdat-ul-Makatib, Darul Uloom Imdadiya Natipora, Darul Uloom Jamia Rashad Awantipora, Khanqah Muradiya Jamia Masjid Kreeri, Darul Uloom Sawt-ul-Quran Gulshanabad, Imamia Federation Kashmir, and other contemporary religious, community, social, and educational organizations
