KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 18: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kathua, under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu), organized a training programme on “Natural Farming and Preparation of Beejamrit and Jeevamrit” at the Natural Farming Model Farm, Ammuwala, Block Nagrota Gujroo.
The programme was organized under the administrative supervision of Dr. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and guidance of Dr. Amrish Vaid, Director Extension and Dr. Vishal Mahajan, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Kathua.
SMS (Agronomy), KVK Kathua Dr. Vishal Sharma delivered a technical session on the principles, benefits and field-level application of natural farming. He highlighted its potential to improve soil health and biological activity, optimize farm resources and reduce dependence on externally purchased agricultural inputs.
He also explained the ingredients, preparation process, fermentation period and application methods of natural farming inputs. A practical demonstration on the preparation of Beejamrit and Jeevamrit was subsequently conducted for the participating farmers and Krishi Sakhis.
YP-II, KVK Kathua, Sushant Sharma, demonstrated the preparation of Jeevamrit using locally available materials, while the participants were briefed on the preparation and use of Beejamrit for seed treatment and healthy seed establishment.
The participants actively participated in the demonstrations and interacted with KVK scientists, who addressed their queries regarding preparation, storage and application of natural farming inputs.
The participants also visited the Natural Farming Model Farm of Jarnail Singh, Farmer Master Trainer and observed the practical implementation of natural farming practices. He shared his experiences regarding preparation and utilization of farm-based inputs in different crops.
Farmer Master Trainer Jarnail Singh proposed the vote of thanks and appreciated the KVK Kathua team and participating farmers for their active participation in the programme.
