RAJOURI, AUGUST 23: In a significant step towards ensuring transparent and fair elections, Rajouri district successfully completed the first level of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) randomization for the upcoming Assembly Elections 2024. The process was carried out under the meticulous supervision of District Election Officer Abhishek Sharma.

The randomization was held in the presence of senior officials and representatives from all political parties and involved the allocation of 2,156 Ballot Units, 1,208 Control Units, and 1,216 Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units across the district’s five assembly segments: 83-Kalakote-Sunderbani, 84-Nowshera, 85-Rajouri, 86-Budhal, and 87-Thanamandi.

The DEO emphasized the importance of the randomization process in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. “The primary objective is to ensure transparent, free, and fair elections, completely devoid of any human intervention. The process was conducted using dedicated software specifically designed for this purpose, ensuring precision and fairness,” he stated.

Before the commencement of the randomization, the District Election Officer provided a detailed briefing to political representatives of all political parties, assuring them of the stringent measures in place to uphold the fairness of the elections.

The next phases of randomization will allocate specific EVMs to polling stations, furthering the preparations for the upcoming elections. In line with the commitment to transparency, the list of EVMs post-randomization was shared with all political parties present at the event.

Prominent attendees included Deputy District Election Officer, Shakeel Malik; Nodal Officer for EVM, Nodal Officer for Training Management; DIO NIC, Muzaffar Mir and DIO Ashiq Rafiq Malik, among other officials.
