A delegation of students from Kashmir University, led by Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) Coordinator Suhail Farooq on Wednesday Called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at his Rajbhavan residence to discuss pressing issues faced by the student community in the region.

The delegation, which included Mohsin Gulzar, Arsalan Ashraf Wani, and Babar Shaqeeb Paray, focused on the need for the reinstatement of the Kashmir University Students Union, which has been inactive for several years.

The students emphasized that a functional student union is essential for fostering student engagement, addressing grievances, and providing a democratic platform for dialogue between students and the university administration. Suhail Farooq, speaking on behalf of the Association, highlighted that reviving the student union would not only amplify the students’ voice but also enhance the academic and cultural environment at Kashmir University. The delegation urged the Lieutenant Governor to take swift action in this regard, stressing that a student union is a vital component of a vibrant educational institution.

The delegation requested the Lieutenant Governor to expedite the recruitment process to ensure that students preparing for competitive examinations do not face unnecessary delays.

In response, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha assured the delegation that their concerns would be taken seriously and addressed on merit. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to the welfare of students and the enhancement of educational facilities in the region.
