Why have NC MPs failed to even table a bill against the abrogation of Article 370 in parliament?: Waheed Parra

PDP’s youth president and Pulwama’s assembly candidate, Waheed ur Rehman Parra on Friday raised critical questions about the National Conference (NC) MPs’ failure to take action regarding the revocation of Article 370. Speaking at a campaign rally for Ganderbal’s PDP candidate Bashir Mir, Parra challenged the NC leadership on their lack of efforts in Parliament.

“Why did NC MPs fail to even table a bill against the abrogation of Article 370 in Parliament? What’s holding them back?” Para questioned, encouraging voters to scrutinize the efforts of different political parties in protecting Jammu & Kashmir’s autonomy. He urged the public not to be swayed by rhetoric but to focus on the tangible steps—or lack thereof—that political representatives have taken since the abrogation.

Parra also drew parallels to PDP’s historic rise in 2002, when the party defied expectations to become a significant political force. “In the same manner, history will be repeated,” he said, expressing confidence that PDP’s commitment to addressing the region’s core issues would once again resonate with the people.

However, Parra did not shy away from highlighting the relentless challenges PDP has faced since 2018. He pointed out how 40 legislators, including former MLAs, MPs, and MLCs, were systematically pressured to leave the party, a clear onslaught aimed at weakening PDP’s political strength. Despite these challenges, Para reaffirmed PDP’s resilience & dedication, standing firm against efforts to erode its influence.

“Mehbooba ji & our party has been attacked by every possible means, but we will not be silenced. Our struggle for justice, for autonomy, for the people of J&K, continues,” Parra said, stressing that the PDP’s legacy of safeguarding the region’s interests would endure despite the challenges ahead.
