Successive Regimes Neglected the Political, Social, and Cultural Interests of Bandipora: Usman Majid
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegram
Former Minister and MLA Bandipora, Usman Majid here on Saturday that successive regimes have continuously neglected the political, social, and cultural interests of the Bandipora constituency. In a statement issued today, Majid expressed the discontent among the people of Bandipora, who have long felt abandoned and marginalized by successive governments especially INC- NC.

Speaking at a public meeting in the Dachigam area of Bandipora constituency, Majid voiced his concerns over the lack of attention Bandipora has received in key areas of development, particularly under the INC-NC governments.

He emphasized that despite numerous promises made by the INC-NC governments, Bandipora continues to be overlooked in terms of political representation and governance. The constituency, with its strategic importance and vibrant history, has been deprived of its rightful place in the state’s political discourse.

Majid lamented the fact that Bandipora has not been given adequate representation at the decision-making table, and as a result, the aspirations and needs of the people have been sidelined. “Our voices are not being heard. The INC-NC, which ruled J&K for decades, has failed to provide us with the opportunities we deserve. Bandipora’s potential has been ignored, and this neglect has severely impacted the district’s development,” Majid remarked.

Majid also highlighted the erosion of Bandipora’s rich cultural identity, which he said has gradually faded due to successive government neglect. The district, known for its unique blend of Sufi traditions and historical significance, has seen its cultural heritage being ignored by successive administrations. “Our cultural values and traditions are what make Bandipora special, but they are being eroded due to the indifference of those in power. We need to protect and promote our heritage before it is lost forever,” Majid said passionately.

Majid reaffirmed his commitment to fighting for the rights of the people of Bandipora, stating, “I will continue to raise my voice for Bandipora and its people. I will not rest until the district gets the attention and development it deserves. It is high time that the government listens to the cries of our people and takes real steps to uplift the region.”

He further urged the people of Bandipora to see through the INC’s- NC’s false claims and not be misled by their rhetoric. “The INC-NC has repeatedly shown that they care only for their own power and interests, not for the welfare of the people of Bandipora,” he added.

Reflecting on the past, Majid said, “Before 2002, Bandipora was a town enveloped in darkness, grappling with neglect and underdevelopment. However, after I became the MLA, Bandipora began its transformative journey. Under my leadership, both as MLA and later as Planning Minister, Bandipora reached new heights of development. Roads, schools, healthcare facilities, and other vital infrastructure projects were initiated and completed, bringing unprecedented progress to the town.

Majid also addressed a series of meetings in Naidkhai, Bandipora town, and other areas of the Bandipora constituency as part of his ongoing efforts to strengthen his support base and reach every corner of Bandipora. Addressing the gatherings, Majid said, “Our movement is reaching every household in Bandipora, and we are committed to ensuring equitable development across the region.”

Majid urged his supporters, workers, and new entrants to engage in a vigorous door-to-door campaign to educate voters about the significance of this election.

Meanwhile, DDC Firdousa Akhter convened a meeting in the Kudara area of the Bandipora constituency, where she warmly welcomed a large group of workers from Bapora who had joined her fold from the Congress Party. Their decision to join reflects their unwavering faith in the leadership and vision of Usman Majid.

A crucial meeting was also convened late evening at the residence of Usman Majid, as part of preparations for the upcoming election in which hundreds of workers participated. The meeting focused on grassroots mobilization and reaffirming the commitment to meaningful change in Bandipora.
