Srinagar, Oct 16 : Omar Abdullah, who was sworn in as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir today, is set to convene his government’s first cabinet meeting tomorrow.
The resolution calling for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood is likely to be passed unanimously during the session.
The resolution will reinforce the government’s commitment to press the central government for the reinstatement of full statehood, a demand that has gained momentum across political lines since the revocation of Article 370 in 2019.
Omar Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference (NC), took his oath as Chief Minister on Tuesday in a ceremony presided over by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

On the day before the crucial cabinet meeting, Omar Abdullah is also scheduled to meet with secretaries and key officers in the Civil Secretariat to discuss administrative and governance matters.
