Srinagar, Oct 17 : Director of Tourism Kashmir Raja Yaqoob on Thursday said the much-awaited “International Marathon” in Kashmir is scheduled for October 20.

He said the marathon will feature two types of races, a 42-kilometer full marathon and a 21-kilometer half marathon.

Speaking to the media in Srinagar during the Kashmir Marathon Expo, starting today and running until October 19, as per the news agency, said the marathon will kick off from Mughal Darbar Polo View and traverse through the beautiful routes of MA Road to Boulevard Road, continuing along the foreshore road to Naseem Bagh, Kashmir University, before returning to the starting point for a finish.

He said with over 2,000 registrations, the marathon has attracted approximately 59 international athletes, along with participants from other states and Union Territories across India.

“Visitors will have the opportunity to experience Kashmir’s rich culture through its handicrafts, handloom, horticulture, and agriculture, alongside the region’s breathtaking beauty,” he said.

He added that a showcase of renowned Kashmiri products including handloom items, honey, saffron, almonds, and walnuts will be on display for guests, highlighting not only the beautiful landscapes but also the rich heritage and unique offerings of the region.

Notably, the three-day Kashmir Marathon Expo started today at the Indoor Stadium, from today until October 19, and after the end of the expo, the Kashmir International Marathon is scheduled for October 20—Sunday.
