Srinagar, Oct 29: Member of Parliament, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi Tuesday wrote to chief minister Omar Abdullah, suggesting him to prioritize some issues that could “greatly” impact the welfare of the society. He also congratulated him on assuming the office of chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

In the letter, a copy of which is lies with news agency, Ruhullah suggested Omar Abdullah to prioritize the issues, including release of prisoners, filling the vacancies, rationalization of reservation policies, electricity tariff, and verification process.

He stated that the urgent matter is the plight of prisoners, who are held without trial, ensuring justice and upholding the rule of law.

“It is essential to revisit the recent reservation policies. A balanced approach that supports deserving sections of society while maintaining open merit is necessary to foster an inclusive environment,” the letter reads.

He also stated that filling government vacancies should be a priority, as it will provide thousands of deserving candidates with employment opportunities.

“With winter approaching, it is vital to address the high electricity tariffs that burden consumers, and ensure a stable power supply,” Ruhullah mentioned in the letter.

He also suggested Omar Abdullah to reconsider the recently introduced verification process to ensure it s fair and just for all applicants
