Animal Health Clinical Camp held at remote areas of Anantnag

ANANTNAG, DECEMBER 02: Animal Health Clinical Camp was today organized at Draibhaal, Kapran Veerinag under the SCSP component of the NICRA project and National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP), to support livestock owners/sheep breeders ahead of the challenging winter season.

The initiative was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anantnag, SKUAST-Kashmir, in collaboration with the Department of Sheep Husbandry Anantnag.

Peerzada Shahbaz, DDC Member Veerinag presided over the occasion as chief guest. In his remarks, he emphasized the significance of such initiatives in these remote areas, stating, “Conducting animal health camps before the onset of harsh winters is crucial for the wellbeing of livestock, which are vital assets for the rural economy.”

He commended KVK-Anantnag and the Sheep Husbandry Department for selecting Draibhal and urged for more such camps in the future to benefit the farming community.

Dr. Ishtiyaq A. Khan, Head KVK-Anantnag, highlighted the Kendra’s ongoing commitment to the farming community.

He elaborated on the critical role KVK plays in empowering farmers and livestock breeders through innovative programs and interventions. Dr. Khan assured the attendees of continued efforts to support economically weaker and marginalized sections of society with initiatives across various agricultural and allied sectors.

Several Officers highlighted various Departmental welfare schemes and specifically emphasized on schemes employed for tribal farmers. Additionally, the officers created awareness regarding the importance of Vaccinations and dosing in sheep and goats.

The camp witnessed an overwhelming participation, with more than 175 veterinary medicine kits distributed to farmers, particularly sheep breeders. Experts provided scientific advice for livestock management.
