Directs taking precautionary measures against Hepatitis A

DC Shopian visits Shadab Karewa, Manloo; takes stock of water & healthcare facilities

SHOPIAN, JANUARY 16: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today visited Shadab Karewa and Manloo to take stock of water and healthcare facilities, and assess the implementation of precautionary measures being taken against the occurrence of infectious disease in the area.

The DC visited the local health centre and water supply schemes to take first hand appraisal of the situation and directed for taking corrective and precautionary measures.

In response to public health concern of Hepatitis A, the DC directed Jal Shakti and Health departments to enhance water quality monitoring, extensive water sampling and testing, and improve sanitation facilities along with provision of quality healthcare services.

DC laid emphasis on ensuring safe drinking water supplies to the residents and intensifying public awareness campaigns to educate residents about the importance of consuming boiled water and maintaining proper hygiene practices.

A team of doctors have been deputed to Shadab Karewa Manloo, 70 children have been screened and 15 samples collected till now and are keeping close watch on the spread of infectious diseases particularly Hepatitis A.

The DC was accompanied by ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; ACR, Ex. Engineer PHE, Tehsildar Shopian, BMO and other officers and officials.
