DODA, JANUARY 23: A plantation drive under the initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was organized by the Forest Division Bhaderwah in collaboration with NHIDCL (National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited), PMU Doda, and M/S R&C Infra engineer Pvt. Ltd. The plantation was carried out at Gadssu along the National Highway to reinforce environmental sustainability and spread awareness about the significance of tree plantation for honoring motherhood and nature.

The drive was attended by SSP Sandeep Kumar Mehta; ADDC Pran Singh; Deputy Director Forest Protection Force (FPF) M.S. Jamwal; DFO Doda Mahesh Thakur; DFO Bhaderwah Mohd Ayub Khan and Range Officer Suresh Kumar of Kelkar Range. Other key attendees included DIO Nasir Ahmed Khan, DM JKFDCL, and DDC Councillor Manohar Lal. Their collective presence underscored the importance of inter-departmental cooperation in achieving environmental goals.

“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” is a unique initiative that encourages people to plant trees in honor of their mothers, symbolizing the nurturing and life-sustaining role of both trees and mothers. This campaign not only promotes afforestation but also strengthens emotional connections with nature. During the drive, saplings of native species were planted to ensure ecological balance and enhance the green cover along the highway, contributing to the mitigation of landslides and erosion in the area.

The event highlighted the importance of community participation and institutional collaboration in environmental conservation. Participants pledged to take care of the planted saplings, ensuring their growth and sustainability. This drive is a testament to the commitment of local authorities and stakeholders towards a greener and healthier future for the region.
