Bandipora, Feb 09: As Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Tuesday announced result of class 12 annual examination, Bandipora district has lagged behind by securing just 4 spots in board’s merit list of 354 students across Kashmir division. According to details available with Kashmir News Service (KNS), only 4 students from Bandipora have made it to the merit list of 354 students announced by the board last evening after declaring class 12 result. Of these four students three are from Sumbal zone, while one is from Bandipora education zone. A total of 354 students have been named in the merit list out, of which 248 are from science stream, 61 from arts, 33 from commerce and 12 from home science stream. Meanwhile, while talking to KNS, a prominent educationist from Bandipora, who has served in education department for over 30 years, claimed that parents do not take care about the performance of their children in studies. He said that once he called around 200 parents for some discussion about the studies of their wards, but only four out of 200 parents came to meet him, which speaks volumes about the carelessness of the parents. “Parents nowadays do not look after their children who go for tuitions, They do not keep a check on their children, which is the main reason for poor performance of students during exams,” he added. He said that if for once parents take studies of their children seriously and be in touch with their concerned teachers, then there can be a positive impact on the studies of their children. “But unfortunately, parents do not make time for their child’s studies. I am teaching at a coaching centre where around 40 students study, but only one parent takes his time out to contact me to know about his child’s performance,” he said. Another educationist said it is the responsibility of every parent to look after their children and keep a check on their studies in order to save their future. “We as a society should also need to rise to the occasion and save Bandipora’s future, which was once known for Alim, Adab and Aab,” he said. He also said that education nowadays has become a trade with no accountability to shape the future of a child.
