Kargil, Feb 26 : Amid inclement weather, the Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil Wednesday extended winter vacations for all government and private schools till March-15.

Earlier on December-04-2024, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kargil had announced a phased manner of winter vacations for all government and private schools in the district.

For classes from Ist to 8th, the vacations were ordered from December-5-2024 to March-5-2025 and for classes 9th to 12th, the vacations were scheduled from December-15-2024 to March-5-2025.

According to the news agency, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon on Wednesday chaired a meeting at the Council Secretariat to review the ongoing winter conditions and their impact on educational institutions.

Officials said, “In light of heavy snowfall and extreme cold, the CEC announced the extension of winter vacations for both government and private schools until March-15- 2025.”

The meeting was attended by Executive Councillor Kacho Mohd Feroz, Executive Councillor Aga Syed Mujtaba, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Shrikant Suse, and Chief Education Officer Kargil.
