BARAMULLA, MARCH 22: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired a meeting to review the preparations and arrangements for the upcoming religious events of Shab-e-Qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr and Navratra.

The meeting, held at the DC Office Complex, aimed to ensure that all necessary measures are in place to facilitate smooth and peaceful observance of these important religious occasions.

During the meeting, the DC took a detailed assessment of the arrangements being made by various departments, including essential services, sanitation, traffic management, and security. He directed the officers to work in close coordination to address any potential issues and ensure that the public faces no inconvenience during the celebrations.

The DC emphasized the need for uninterrupted power and water supply, particularly at major religious places and areas with high public footfall. He instructed the PHE and PDD departments to put in place contingency plans to tackle any disruptions and ensure backup facilities where required.

Special attention was also given to maintaining cleanliness in and around Eidgahs, mosques, temples and other places of worship. The Municipal Committees were tasked with conducting sanitation drives and ensuring waste disposal mechanisms are in place before and during the festivals.

Security arrangements were also reviewed in detail. SP Baramulla, Feroz Yahya, assured that comprehensive security measures will be implemented to maintain peace and order during the festivals. He highlighted the deployment of adequate police personnel at key locations and traffic management strategies to prevent congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement.

The DC also directed the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department to ensure the availability of essential commodities, including ration, LPG, and other daily-use items, at fair prices. He stressed the need for regular market inspections to prevent overcharging and hoarding.

Health department officials were instructed to set up emergency medical facilities and ensure the availability of ambulance services. The Fire and Emergency Services Department was also directed to remain on high alert and position fire tenders strategically.

The DC urged all stakeholders to maintain communal harmony and work collectively to ensure a peaceful and smooth celebration of the festivals. He stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination and active involvement of civil society to create a harmonious atmosphere during the festive period.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Feroz Yahya; ADC Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina; ADC Baramulla, Dr Zahoor Ahmad Raina; SDM Uri, Gulmarg, Pattan besides various other district officers from line departments.
