Srinagar, May 12 : The 95th death anniversary of Kashmir’s distinguished Islamic Scholar and social reformer, former President of Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam, Mirwaiz Maulana Ahmadullah Shah Sahib (RA) was observed with great devotion on Monday.
President of the Anjuman, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq, as per a statement issued to the news agency— paid rich tributes to the late Mirwaiz, describing him as a devout lover of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, a true follower of Sunnah and a man of exemplary character.
He recalled his pioneering role in political and social awakening being the first to sign the historic memorandum to the Viceroy of India against autocratic rule, and his immense contributions to education, particularly the establishment of Islamia Oriental College.
On the occasion, a Quran Khwani was held at Islamia Oriental College for the Eisale Sawab of Mirwaiz Ahmadullah Shah RA, Allama Rasul Shah RA, and all past presidents, members, and supporters of the Anjuman
