Jammu, May 15 : The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) Thursday ordered that all government and recognized private schools in Jammu division which were yet to reopen post ceasefire shall resume functioning from May-19-2025.

According to the news agency, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) have been instructed to ensure that all schools under their jurisdiction strictly follow the safety guidelines issued by the School Education Department and other relevant authorities

Heads of institutions have also been asked to ensure a smooth resumption of academic activities and maintain close coordination with local administration and law enforcement agencies to ensure the well-being of students and staff.

Earlier, educational institutions across Jammu, including the sensitive border districts reopened on Thursday.

The reopening of schools in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch, and Udhampur marks a significant step toward restoring normalcy in the region after days of tension along the India-Pakistan border.

On May 13, schools in non-border districts including Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, and Ramban resumed academics following a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan that took place on May 10.

“The reopening of schools in the border districts is a relief for students, teachers and parents. After days of uncertainty, we are happy to see children back in classrooms,” said a spokesperson for the Directorate of School Education.

The sentiment was echoed by students, with many expressing excitement at resuming classes
