ANANTNAG, MAY 27: District Anantnag is gearing up to host the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ (VKSA), a nationwide campaign launched under the Pro-Kharif initiative, scheduled to run from 29th May to 12th June 2025.

The preparations were reaffirmed during an awareness programme and stakeholder consultation meeting held today at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anantnag.

Threadbare discussions with regard to optimum reach of the VKSA were held during the awareness programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ishtiyaq Khan, Head, KVK Anantnag, emphasized that the campaign is aimed at sensitizing and empowering the farming community through modern and scientific agricultural practices. The initiative focuses on enhancing productivity in field crops, pulses, horticulture, and livestock, while also spreading awareness about various state and centrally sponsored schemes.

Dr. Khan further elaborated that the campaign will see the active collaboration of scientists from KVKs, ICAR institutes, agricultural universities, and officials from line and development departments under the Agriculture Production Department. The broader aim is to align with the national vision of making India a ‘Viksit Rashtra’ (Developed Nation) by fortifying its agricultural foundations.

To ensure effective grassroots-level outreach, the campaign will mobilize scientists, technical experts and extension officers to conduct awareness and capacity-building programmes at the village level. Three dedicated expert teams have been constituted to cover three venues daily, targeting approximately 900 farmers each day.

The campaign plans to reach 135 main villages and several adjoining hamlets, ultimately covering around 400 villages across Anantnag district.

He urged all stakeholders, including Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), local governance bodies, and the farming community, to extend their full support and actively participate in this landmark initiative.
