ANANTNAG, MAY 31: To mark ‘World No Tobacco Day-2025,’ Health department in collaboration with the Education department organized a series of awareness programmes, rallies, and pledge ceremonies across Anantnag district.

The events aimed to educate the public, especially the youth, about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and to encourage a tobacco-free lifestyle.

Programmes were held in schools, colleges, healthcare institutions, and public spaces, featuring health talks, debates, poster-making competitions, and skits. Students, teachers, healthcare professionals, and civil society members participated enthusiastically in the district-wide initiative.

Rallies led by students and health workers, echoed with slogans promoting health and well-being, drawing attention from passersby and reinforcing the message of a tobacco-free society.

Pledge ceremonies were also held, where hundreds of participants vowed to stay away from tobacco and spread awareness in their communities.

Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, in his message emphasized the urgent need to combat the growing tobacco menace and appreciated the efforts of schools and health institutions in spreading awareness.

The day-long events concluded with a renewed commitment from stakeholders across the district to work together in building a healthier, tobacco-free Anantnag.
