RAMBAN, JUNE 05: In view of the upcoming festival of Eid, market inspection drives were conducted today across various locations in Ramban district to ensure the availability of quality food items and to curb unethical trade practices.

In Gool, a team comprising officials from the Tehsil Administration, Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and the Police Department inspected grocery stores, mutton and chicken shops, milk vendors and sweet shops.

The inspection aimed to keep check on overpricing, sale of unhygienic or substandard items, and to ensure compliance with notified price lists.

Irregularities were detected at several outlets, resulting in on-the-spot fines totaling ₹4,100. Shopkeepers were also sensitized on the importance of maintaining hygiene and transparent pricing during the festive season.

In Batote, a joint team comprising officials from the Revenue, Food, Municipality, and Excise Departments conducted a surprise inspection. A fine of ₹1,750 was imposed on violators, and 2 kilograms of banned polythene were seized during the drive.

A similar inspection was carried out in Ramban town, resulting in fines amounting to ₹1,600 and the seizure of 4 kilograms of polythene.
