SRINAGAR, JUNE 21: Amar Singh College, Srinagar, celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2025, with great enthusiasm and participation, reinforcing its commitment to promoting health, wellness, and holistic education.

A large number of students and faculty members actively participated in the event, which was held in the Bukhari Hall of the college.

The event was organized by the Department of Physical Education in collaboration with the College Sports Committee. The programme aimed at raising awareness about the multifaceted benefits of Yoga and encouraging its integration into daily life for improved physical and mental well-being.

The celebration commenced with a vibrant Yoga session in which a series of Yoga Asanas and breathing exercises were performed under expert guidance. The session not only reflected the growing popularity of Yoga among youth but also highlighted its relevance as a tool for stress management, emotional balance, and holistic development.

Yoga demonstration was led by Sehrish Latif and Sana Mehraj, students of the Second Semester, who are also nationally recognized Yoga instructors. Their leadership and skillful execution of Yoga postures were widely appreciated. In recognition of their contributions, both students were felicitated during the event.

Following the Yoga session, a formal ceremony was held to reflect on the significance of the day. The coordinator of the event addressed the gathering and emphasized that Yoga is not merely a form of exercise but a way of life that seeks to harmonize the body, mind, and soul. He urged students to adopt Yoga as a daily practice and to take pride in participating in a movement that resonates with India’s ancient wisdom and global vision.

In his official message, Principal of Amar Singh College, Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Hakak, reiterated the institution’s dedication to fostering holistic education and wellness-based programmes, in alignment with the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ the world is one family. He praised the efforts of the organizing committee and lauded the student participants for their spirited involvement in the event.
