SRINAGAR, JUNE 21: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Srinagar, today celebrated the International Day of Yoga on the college campus at Ompora, Budgam.

In the wee hours, enthusiastic staff and students along with faculty and staff performed yoga asanas. Yoga trainers used the occasion to impart different techniques of breathing exercises and meditation to students and the staff.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Monika Gupta, Director, NIFT, emphasized the importance of yoga in today’s hectic and restless lifestyle and called upon staff and students to adopt yoga as a means of holistic development.

“Yoga is not merely a set of exercises, as its impact goes beyond the body and replenishes the soul. It’s a way of life that harmonizes the body, mind, and spirit,” Dr. Gupta said.

This ancient practice aims to promote physical well-being, inner peace. “The celebration on the campus aligns with the institute’s ongoing commitment to integrate wellness and creativity in the student experience,” Prof. Gupta stressed.

Prof. Gupta also praised the students, faculty, and staff for showing great enthusiasm on the occasion. She said incorporating yoga as part of lifestyle will go a long way to address modern-day work stress.
“The practice of yoga will for sure enhance the quality of life,” she underlined.

Senior faculty also joined students on the occasion.
