GANDERBAL, JUNE 27: Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Ganderbal, Nuzhat Ishfaq carried out an extensive field visit across various areas of the Lar-B Territorial Constituency in Ganderbal to review the progress of ongoing development projects and to listen to public grievances on the ground.

She was accompanied by officers and officials from different government departments.

The visit was aimed at identifying gaps in infrastructure, understanding public service issues firsthand, and ensuring faster resolution through coordinated efforts among departments.

DDC Chairperson inspected the road infrastructure, health sector, food and supplies center, sanitation, canal, and tourism development and other major sectors.

During the visit, Chairperson first inspected the road adjacent to Jamia Ahle Hadith Masjid, where locals demanded the construction of a road link from the bypass to Diwan Bagh. As sufficient land is reportedly available, she directed the RDD and R&B department to take up the matter for necessary action.

Inspecting the graveyard at Astan Sayyid Yaqub Qasim, she noted that the protective grill fencing was damaged and required urgent repairs. She assigned the responsibility to the Block Development Officer (BDO) Lar to take up the matter promptly.

Sanitation issues near the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Lar were also brought to her notice. BDO Lar was directed to immediately get the area cleaned and ensure long-term maintenance.

While inspecting the Primary Health Centre Lar, Chairperson Nuzhat Ishfaq appreciated the center’s ongoing efforts but acknowledged the need for additional paramedical staff and an X-ray technician for better health facilities to the patients. She emphasized the need for increased integration of ASHA workers at the PHC to ensure better maternal care services at the grassroots level.

She also visited the public park, and the BDO was instructed to develop it further with children’s play areas and community seating arrangements.

Chairperson then visited the Fodder Station at Lar, which is also the proposed site for the upcoming District Veterinary Hospital. She noted that the development of the dipping vat required an adequate water supply and directed immediate steps to ensure water availability.

At Chanthan, canal-related issues were reviewed, and appropriate directions were issued to address them.

At Chak Vatal Bagh Bridge, land was identified for the development of a new park to promote community welfare and boost local tourism.

While visiting Waheedpora Water Pump Station, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti was instructed to restore the canal and restart the water pump at the earliest for the benefit of locals.

Interacting with the officials, DDC Chairperson assured the departments that the Council would explore the possibility of extending financial support to ensure the timely execution of essential development works.

She reiterated the administration’s commitment to grassroots-level development and urged all departments to work in close coordination to bring visible change on the ground.
