**ABVP Jammu Mahanagar Stands for Students’ Rights Amidst JKBOSE Controversy**
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegram
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu Mahanagar expresses deep concern over the recent developments surrounding the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE). In response to contradictory notifications and arbitrary decisions impacting students, ABVP Jammu Mahanagar took a stand for students’ rights.
ABVP Jammu Mahanagar, joined by affected students, staged a protest today. Notable ABVP members, including Arman Khajuria, Harish Sharma, Piyush Gupta, Divyansh Janyal, and Ganesh Bhardwaj, stood in solidarity. The organization demands immediate clarification from JKBOSE on the discrepancies in notifications and urges a fair resolution.
In the middle of January 2024, JKBOSE had opened the examination and admission site for bi-annual 11th students who have cleared their failed subjects in the bi-annual examination. ABVP Jammu Mahanagar demanded their inclusion in the final examination list to BOSE, and the site was reopened with late fees, and many students filled their examination forms. After the completion of the form-filling procedure, the board issued the roll number slip and allotted the center. The board, after taking their external practical exam (board practical exam) in their centers, issued a notification regarding the cancellation of their eligibility criteria for sitting in the examination for which they have prepared.
On the 22nd of February, the notification was published by JKBOSE on their site and circulated to different government educational institutions, stating that the following students are not eligible for the examination of 12th standard. The board canceled the eligibility of approximately 965 students, almost 1000 students in Jammu (summer zone). But, on the other hand, JKBOSE has already taken their external practical examination.
The notification has caused serious troubles and unrest among those candidates who have been preparing hard for the final examination. It is a well-known fact that students who remain unsuccessful in examinations survive under the pressure of parents and society, and their admission to the next higher class is a kind of sigh of relief to escape from anxiety. But the notification has brought them all under stress and trauma, and the recent notification is a question mark for their future career.
ABVP demands the inclusion of their candidature for the final examination, or they will be left with the only option of the restoration of protest demonstrations throughout the state. Immediate action in this regard is the need of the hour to give relief to nearly 1000 students across J&K who have been asked to appear in the final exam, and JKBOSE has already issued Roll No in their favor. The ineligible candidates, as per the recent notification, would have been rejected before the start of the examination process.
During the protest, when some students went to meet the Chairman in his office, while talking to students, in a shocking statement, the chairman of JKBOSE, addressing students, callously mentioned that the concerns of 1-2 thousand students among the 7 lakh appearing for exams don’t matter to him, displaying a lack of empathy towards affected students.
Furthermore, the chairman failed to come out and meet protesting students, raising concerns about transparency in communication. ABVP Jammu Mahanagar strongly condemns JKBOSE’s apparent disregard for students’ futures and pledges to continue advocating for their rights. The chairman of the board is from the Educational background even after that he is not understanding the problem of students and not giving any positive response to resolve the issue of students.
