Amid forecast of light snowfall, day temp rises in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 15 : Amidst the forecast of light snowfall till Thursday morning, the maximum temperature has increased across Kashmir on Wednesday.

According to the news agency, Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad stated that there is a possibility of light snow at isolated higher reaches during tonight and early morning tomorrow.

He added that there is no forecast of any significant weather activity till January 19 and stated that the weather would remain generally cloudy from January 17 to 19.

On January 20 and 21st, the weather would remain generally cloudy with possibility of light snow at isolated to scattered places, he said, adding that there is a possibility of light rain in plains of Jammu and snow at scattered to fairly widespread places on January 22.

In its advisory, the MeT has advised the tourists, travelers and transporters to follow administration and traffic advisory.

Moreover, the day temperatures increased across Kashmir today with Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K recording a minimum temperature of 11.0 degree Celsius.

Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination, recorded 7.5 degree Celsius while Qazigund recorded a day temperature of 10.8 degree Celsius. Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded 11.3 degree Celsius while Kokernag recorded a maximum temperature of 7.6 degree Celsius
