SRINAGAR, APRIL 25: Department of Animal Husbandry, Kashmir observed World Veterinary Day, 2026 themed “Veterinarians : Guardians of Food and Health,” with the main event held at the Directorate of Animal Husbandry Srinagar.
The programme focused on the vital role veterinarians play in ensuring food safety, animal health, public health, and sustainable food systems from production to consumption (from farm to fork). Alongside, an awareness programme was organized on modern animal husbandry practices, zoonotic diseases, departmental schemes, programs, and initiatives in the interest of dairy farmers, pet owners, and unemployed youth.
The event was attended by senior departmental officers, dairy farmers, pet owners, and unemployed youth from different districts of Kashmir Division.
Moreover, on the occasion, six departmental officers were felicitated for their crucial role in food safety, animal health, public health, rural development, and sustainable food systems.
Furthermore, animal feed supplements and pamphlets carrying necessary information regarding important animal diseases and zoonotic diseases of public important were distributed among the participants.
