KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 14: A voter awareness program aimed at fostering electoral education and promoting participation in the upcoming assembly elections was organized today here at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Dharmahanpur.

The event took place under the esteemed supervision of Returning Officer (RO) 65-Basohli, Anil Kumar Thakur, and was part of the flagship Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Themed “Greater Participation for a Stronger Democracy,” the event featured a variety of activities, including Nukkad Nataks, cultural performances, poster-making, and a voter awareness rally. These activities were designed to engage the community, particularly first-time voters, and encourage them to turn out in record numbers for the upcoming election scheduled for 1st October 2024.

Over 150 attendees, including students, faculty members, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from nearby polling stations attended the program.

Principal of GHSS Dharmahanpur, Kartar Chand and Sector Officer Vikas Malpotra interacted with the students and community members, emphasizing the importance of voting as both a constitutional right and a civic duty.
