KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 02: To spread voter awareness for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections, a series of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) events were held across Assembly segments of the Kathua district today.

At 68-Hiranagar AC, the programmes were held at Ayushman Arogya Kendra, Bannu Chak, and the Handicraft Training Centre, Sallan. The campaign was spearheaded by Nodal Officer AC-68 Hiranagar Priya Lakshmi who emphasized the importance of voter participation.

The medical staff at the Ayushman Arogya Kendra, led by the attending doctors, pledged their commitment to inform every visitor about the importance of casting their vote on October 1, 2024. The initiative marked a crucial step in ensuring that the message of civic duty reaches every corner of the community.

Furthering the SVEEP campaign, activities were conducted across several educational institutions including GDC Hiranagar, GHSS Sallan, GHSS Chakra, GHSS Hiranagar, GHS Kadyala, Mela, and at several middle schools. These activities included Voter’s Pledge, signature campaign, awareness rallies, poem recitation, and lectures focusing on the theme “My Vote is My Right,”.

In a unique demonstration of voter engagement, women at Sallan expressed their commitment to voting by applying henna on their hands with messages promoting the right to vote.

Block Level Officers (BLOs) of AC-68 HiranagarAC also played a pivotal role in amplifying the SVEEP campaign by conducting various voter awareness activities at their respective polling stations, ensuring maximum reach and impact.

In 67-Kathua AC, a slogan writing competition was held under the SVEEP program at Government Higher Secondary School Nagri Parole. The event engaged students and the community in creating impactful slogans aimed at raising voter awareness. This initiative was designed to foster a sense of civic responsibility and deepen the understanding of the vital role voting plays in a democratic society.

The SVEEP campaign across Kathua district continues to gain momentum as the Legislative Assembly elections approach, with the goal of achieving a substantial increase in voter turnout and fostering a strong culture of electoral participation.
