SAMBA, SEPTEMBER 26: The Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with the Muskan Foundation, on Saturday organized an awareness and assessment camp in the Conference Hall, DC Office, Samba. The initiative aimed to provide direct support and statutory benefits to individuals living with the four disabilities covered under the National Trust Act: Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability (Mental Retardation) and Multiple Disabilities.
During the event, medical and rehabilitation experts conducted on-the-spot functional assessments to facilitate disability certification and UDID generation.
The camp also served as a vital awareness platform for families and caregivers regarding two crucial government provisions:
Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme: Officials explained the scheme’s ₹1,00,000 annual health cover, which includes hospitalizations, OPD visits, and critical ongoing therapies without requiring prior medical tests.
Legal Guardianship Certificate: Experts guided parents on the legal necessity of obtaining this certificate to secure the authority to make medical and financial decisions for their loved ones once they turn 18.
Dedicated help desks were set up by the Muskan Foundation and the Social Welfare Department to assist families with immediate on-site scheme enrollment and documentation processing. The administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring continuous care, legal security, and dignity for all persons with disabilities in the Samba district.
