Awareness activities under Nasha Mukt Abhiyan continue across Bandipora

BANDIPORA, MAY 15: Awareness and outreach activities under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan continued across Bandipora district on Friday with essay competitions, awareness sessions, pledge ceremonies and community programmes organised at various educational institutions and public platforms.

Essay writing competitions under NMBA were organised under the mentorship of the Principal GDC Gurez at HS Kanzalwan and HS Koragbal to spread awareness among students regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse.

Under the guidance of Principal Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra, the NSS Units of GDC Bandipora completed NMBA wall activities including awareness paintings, anti-drug slogans, informative messages and creative illustrations aimed at promoting a drug-free society.

The Youth Club of NSS Units of GDC Bandipora, in collaboration with the Department of Sociology, also organised an anti-drug awareness programme in which NSS Programme Officer Prof. Irfan Ahmad Wagay highlighted the causes and harmful effects of drug abuse on youth.

Awareness activities under NMBA were also held at GHS Nadihal, PM SHRI GHS Odina, HS Panar and Anganwadi Centre Drawer, while Mahila Samities meetings were organised at Panchayat level by the ICDS Department.
Municipal Committee Sumbal, in collaboration with New Era School Sumbal Sonawari, organised a major anti-drug awareness programme attended by officers from Education Department, Police, GDC Sumbal and other departments.

A special NMBA awareness session was also organised at Government HSS PTL Gurez Bandipora where SHO Tulail, BDO Tulail and Principal addressed students regarding the harmful effects of narcotics, legal consequences under the NDPS Act and the importance of resisting peer pressure.

At HSS Quilmuqam, an essay review activity and pledge ceremony under the theme “United for a Drug-Free

Future” were organised, while PM SHRI HSS Shadipora conducted an awareness programme and mass pledge ceremony. HSS Chuntimulla and PM SHRI GHS Sumbal also organised pledge ceremonies against substance abuse.

The programmes witnessed active participation of students, teachers, officials and general public, reflecting the continued commitment towards building a drug-free society across Bandipora district.
