SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 28: An awareness program focused on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques, safe and judicious use of pesticides, and the National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS) was successfully conducted today for the students of Class 9th and 10th at Government Boys High School (GBHS) Bakshipora.

The event featured an informative lecture by Assistant Plant Protection Officer (PP), Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (CIPMC), Srinagar, under the Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine & Storage, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

During the session, the APPO educated students on various aspects of IPM techniques, including biological pest control, the need to minimize pesticide use, and the essential role of safe and responsible pesticide application in protecting both crops and the environment.

Emphasizing the importance of pest surveillance, he introduced the students to the National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS), which empowers farmers to monitor pest levels and make informed pest management decisions using the NPSS mobile app.
