REASI, DECEMBER 19: District Legal Services Authority Reasi today organised an awareness program on NALSA and State Welfare Schemes at the Day Care Centre.
The Resources person informed the participants about the NALSA Schemes for women, children, scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, industrial workers, prisoners, victims of crime and other vulnerable groups.
They said that eligible persons are provided legal aid, legal counseling and representation through panel lawyers under these schemes. Legal awareness programmes, Lok Adalats and mediation services are also provided to ensure speedy and effective access to justice, they added.
The resource persons further added that at the state level, the District Legal Services Authority (including in Jammu & Kashmir) supplements NALSA initiatives by facilitating access to State Welfare Schemes. These include victim Compensation Scheme, welfare Schemes for senior citizens, women and children, protection programmes, disability welfare schemes and other social security benefits implemented by various government departments.
Additionally, an awareness program on social welfare schemes was also at the Legal Aid clinic Channa, Neosi. The participants were educated about different social schemes such as widow pension, marriage assistance, old age pension etc.
