KATHUA, MAY 08: Giving a major push to the district-wide campaign against drug abuse, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today flagged off a massive awareness rally under the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA)’ from the Block Development Office Marheen-Hiranagar.

The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, former PRI members, officers, health workers, volunteers and local residents, all united in their resolve to eradicate the menace of drug abuse from society and promote a healthy, drug-free environment.

Carrying placards and raising impactful slogans against substance abuse, the participants highlighted the harmful effect of drugs on individuals and society as a whole. They appealed to youth to stay away from drugs and adopt a positive and healthy lifestyle.

Addressing the gathering, the DC underscored the importance of community participation in making the anti-drug campaign successful. He said that the district administration is committed to building a drug-free society through sustained awareness drives, counselling initiatives and coordinated efforts involving all stakeholders.

He urged parents, teachers and community leaders to remain vigilant and actively guide the younger generation towards constructive and productive pursuits. He emphasized that awareness and intervention at the grassroots level are crucial to curb the growing threat of narcotics and ensure a safe, secure and healthy future for society.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the active involvement of students and local residents in the rally and called upon everyone to become ambassadors of the “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan” by spreading awareness and supporting the mission in their respective communities.

The rally concluded with all participants taking a solemn pledge to work actively towards the vision of a ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir’ and to contribute in every possible way towards eliminating the scourge of drug abuse from society.

Among others present on the occasion included ADC Vishavjeet Singh; SDM Phulail Singh; Tehsildar Lekh Raj; BDO Javed Iqbal and other officers from civil, police and paramilitary besides PRI members and prominent citizens of the area.
