Capacity Building program under RAMP Scheme empowers Handloom & Handicraft Artisans at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, DECEMBER 17: Under the directions of the Director, Handloom and Handicrafts Jammu Mohammad Nazir Sheikh and the Joint Director Handloom and Handicrafts Jammu, the Department of Handloom and Handicrafts Kishtwar with the active support of the District Administration today organized a one-day Capacity Building Training Programme on Branding and Packaging of Handloom and Handicrafts Products under the RAMP Scheme (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

The training programme witnessed active participation from AHTOs, Instructors and other Staff of the Handloom and Handicrafts Department, besides trainees from departmental training centres and R&R Plan, artisans, weavers from Industrial Cooperative Societies, Karkhandar units, and other stakeholders.

The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma as the Chief Guest, while Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal attended as the Guest of Honour.

Two Assistant Professors from NIFT Srinagar served as Resource Persons. They delivered insightful sessions highlighting the critical role of branding and packaging in the effective marketing of handloom and handicrafts products.

The sessions included practical demonstrations, real-life examples, and video presentations, focusing on branding strategies, product promotion, and innovative packaging techniques for local crafts.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner sensitized artisans and weavers on the growing importance of branding and packaging in today’s competitive market. He urged participants to adopt modern branding and packaging practices to enhance visibility, promotion, and sales of local handloom and handicrafts products.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the importance of effective branding and attractive packaging.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by the Assistant Director Handloom and Handicrafts. He expressed gratitude to the NIFT Srinagar team, District Administration and all stakeholders for their valuable support and participation.
