JAMMU, APRIL 15: A one-day Cancer Awareness Programme was organized at Government Degree College Marh in collaboration with Diva International Foundation under the 100 Day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The formal welcome address was presented by Nodal Officer NCORD Malti Rajput. The keynote speakers included Dr. Abdul Aziz Chowdhary (MBBS, MD), Senior Physician, Haematologist & Oncologist, who delivered an insightful address on cancer prevention, early diagnosis and the established correlation between substance abuse—particularly tobacco and alcohol—and the incidence of various cancers.

Dr. Surbhi Kudyar (MBBS, MS, MCH), Breast Oncologist and Consultant Surgical Oncologist, spoke on breast cancer awareness, the importance of timely screening and the need to adopt a healthy and substance-free lifestyle.

Students, along with NSS, NCC and Bharat Scouts and Guides, participated enthusiastically and actively contributed to awareness activities on cancer prevention and the ill effects of substance abuse. As part of the programme, all participants also took a pledge for a Nasha Mukt Bharat, committing themselves to stay away from drugs and to promote a drug-free society.

The initiative was undertaken by the NCORD team under the guidance of Principal of the college Prof. Ramneek Kaur. The programme underscored the significance of early detection, preventive healthcare and collective responsibility towards building a healthy and drug-free society. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Balwinder Saini, acknowledging the contributions of all stakeholders involved in the successful conduct of the event.
