SHOPIAN, NOVEMBER 14: Chief Education Officer, Shopian in collaboration with Govt. Degree College, Shopian and Department of Information & Public Relations, Shopian today organised a grand function at GDC Shopian on the eve of National Children’s Day.
Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The DC highlighted the significance of Children’s Day as a reminder to advocate for children’s rights, education, and well-being.
Shahid Saleem emphasized the need to foster an environment where children can learn, thrive, and reach their full potential. He also stressed the importance of cultivating intellectual curiosity, moral values, and social responsibility in children.
The celebrations also saw the conclusion of district level Talent Hunt organised by the Education department in the district.Children topping the Hunt were felicitated on the occasion.
The student speakers from various educational institutions honoured the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s legacy. The Department of Information & PR Shopian warmly welcomed participating students with sweet treats, creating a vibrant atmosphere.On the occasion,the Information department also felicitated 15 students who had excelled in the district level competitions of essay, drawing and national anthem competitions conducted online by the department.
On the occasion, students showcased their talents through various heartwarming performances.
The event was attended by ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, Principal GDC Mohammad Shafiq,ACR, Shakoor Ahmad Dar, DIO, Showkat Hussain Ganie, Dy.CEO, Javed Ahmad Khan, Tehsildar Shopian, Anjum Bashir and other dignitaries. The mammoth gathering of students, teachers and parents participated in the celebrations.
