BUDGAM, JULY10: In a significant step towards strengthening Legal Aid Services in remote areas, O.P Bhagat, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam (Principal District & Sessions Judge), today flagged off newly allotted Mahindra Bolero from the ADR Centre District Legal Services Authority, District Court Complex, Budgam.
The Multi-Utility Vehicle has been allotted to DLSA Budgam by the J&K Legal Services Authority. The allotment aims at enhancing the outreach of Legal Services and ensuring effective delivery of Access to Justice, reach to unreached people particularly to tribal, marginalized and far-flung areas of the district for conducting the Legal Awareness Campaigns and participation in mega legal Services camps.
At the outset of the Ceremony, Chairman DLSA Budgam said the vehicle will play a vital role in bridging the gap between Legal Services Institutions and the people residing in remote areas of District Budgam. He further stated that the vehicle will achieve the objectives of Justice on wheels and bring the justice to the doorsteps of those, who in need.
Emphasizing on accountability and proper utilization, the Chairman directed that the vehicle shall be used strictly in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by National Legal Services Authority.
“This vehicle will help our Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Panel Lawyers and PLVs to reach tribal communities and inform them about their rights, government welfare schemes, and free legal aid available to them,” the Chairman added.
Judicial Officers posted at district Headquarter Budgam, Secretary DLSA Budgam, Chief Administrative officer, Legal Aid Defense Counsels, Panel Lawyers, Para Legal Volunteers and staff members of DLSA and Court staff were present during the Flagg-off Ceremony.
The gathering expressed gratitude to the J&K Legal Services Authority for providing the much-needed mobility support to strengthen Legal Aid delivery in the district.
