Chairman DLSA Jammu reviews implementation of SC directions on missing children

JAMMU, AUGUST 08: District Legal Services Authority Jammu, under the guidance of Principal District & Sessions Judge/Chairman, DLSA Ravinder Nath Watal and supervision of Civil Judge Sr. Div/Secretary, DLSA Maleeka Sharma, on Saturday organised a coordination meeting regarding the implementation of the directions issued by the Supreme Court in G. Ganesh v. State of Tamil Nadu & Others, SLP (Crl.) No. 11263/2025, concerning the protection of missing and trafficked children.

The meeting was chaired by Ravinder Nath Watal (Principal District & Sessions Judge/ Chairman DLSA Jammu) in his Office Chamber and was attended by Maleeka Sharma (Civil Judge Sr. Division/ Secretary DLSA Jammu), Dr. Preeti Sharma (District Child Protection Officer, DCPO Jammu and Social Welfare Department) Vidhi Dubey (Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Jammu), Farha Nishat (Special Juvenile Police Unit, Jammu and Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Jammu) and Tipu Sultan (Protection Officer, DCPU Jammu).

The directions of the Supreme Court and the action points approved by the Juvenile Justice Committee of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh were discussed.

Emphasis was laid on regular district-wise monitoring of missing and trafficked children, tracing and restoration, rehabilitation and pending cases, with timely maintenance and sharing of requisite data by the DCPU/CWC.

The functioning of the DCPU, availability of staff and rehabilitation facilities and security arrangements in Children Homes, particularly Girls Homes, were also reviewed.

The effective use and timely updating of Khoya-Paya, TrackChild and CARINGS under the Mission Vatsalya Portal, as well as proper updating and coordination through CCTNS, were discussed for effective tracing and restoration of missing children.

The participating departments were directed to maintain close coordination and ensure prompt sharing of information and follow-up action in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court and the approved district-level action points.
