Chairman DLSA Shopian visits Spl.Jail Pulwama, reviews condition of prison

SHOPIAN, JUNE 19: Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Shopian, Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary today visited Special Jail Pulwama to review the condition of prison besides enquiring about the facilities available for the inmates.

Jail visit was conducted in accordance with the directions of NALSA and J&K Legal Services Authority (JKLSA).
Chairman DLSA was accompanied by SSP Shopian, Anayat Ali Choudhary; Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; Secretary DLSA Shopian, Mudasar Farooq, Principal Magistrate JJB Shopian, Bazila Bashir; Chief LADC Shopian, Rafie Ahmad Ganie; Deputy LADC, and Assistant LADC.

During the visit, Chairman DLSA inspected the jail premises and the facilities available for inmates lodged therein and interacted with the inmates placed in different barracks and inquired about their health, provision of food.

The visiting team also inspected the facilities like medical clinic, cooking area and washrooms in the jail where they enquired about the condition of jail inmates whose trials are pending outside the district Shopian. He directed the LADCs to record the grievances of jail inmates on spot so that the same can be timely redressed.

Chairperson praised the efforts of the prison administration in providing inmates with vocational and educational training, which is crucial for their reintegration into society. He also commended the staff for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the jail premises and ensuring the welfare of the inmates.
