SRINAGAR, MAY 06: In preparation for the forthcoming visit of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs (2025–26) to Jammu and Kashmir from May 10 to 12, Faz Lul Haseeb, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the readiness of all departments and finalize logistical and administrative arrangements for the high-profile programme.

The meeting witnessed detailed deliberations on protocol management, transportation, accommodation, venue preparedness, security coordination, and inter-departmental synchronization to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the parliamentary delegation’s study visit.

Emphasizing the significance of the visit, the Commissioner directed all concerned officers to maintain close coordination and ensure that every arrangement is executed in a timely and professional manner. He stressed that the visit is of considerable importance in the context of ongoing urban development and housing initiatives in the Union Territory.

During the meeting, designated liaison officers were thoroughly briefed about their respective roles and responsibilities. The Commissioner instructed them to remain fully vigilant and responsive throughout the visit to facilitate hassle-free movement and effective engagement of the visiting committee members.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee’s visit is part of its nationwide review and assessment of key issues pertaining to housing, urban governance, infrastructure development, and implementation of flagship urban programmes across the country.
