BANDIPORA, DECEMBER 03: As part of the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib inaugurated a Centre for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities at the old Hospital Bandipora to facilitate registration of beneficiaries under the NIRAMAYA Health Insurance Scheme under National Trust Act.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the participation of stakeholders and stressed the importance of ensuring easy access to welfare schemes for persons with disabilities across the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure that the newly established centre remains fully functional at all times, with adequate staff availability, so that visitors and beneficiaries do not face any inconvenience while availing services under the rehabilitation and Niramaya health scheme.

During the event, Niramaya Health Cards were distributed to registered beneficiaries, enabling them to access annual health coverage provided for persons with disabilities under the scheme.

During the programme, speakers delivered awareness sessions on various welfare schemes, including the provisions of the NIRAMAYA Health Insurance Scheme of the National Trust, which offers up to ₹1 lakh annual coverage for therapies, treatments, diagnostics and related health needs without pre-medical screening.

The event was attended by the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Sumbal, officials from the Social Welfare Department, representatives of the Association of Persons with Disabilities Bandipora and members of the NGO She Hope.
