BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 29: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, today reviewed the district’s winter preparedness, focusing on snow clearance, road connectivity, power supply, healthcare and availability of essential commodities.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed the District Control Room to compile last year’s winter-related challenges so that timely measures could be taken to address them.
Reviewing road connectivity, the Officer Commanding, BRO, briefed the meeting about the steps taken to reduce Bandipora-Gurez road closure and informed that new works have been taken up to improve road conditions. The DC directed BRO to expedite work on the Markoot Bridge and other bridges and immediately flag any issues causing delays to the district administration.
The DC expressed displeasure over delays in bridge works and directed concerned departments to ensure adequate availability of machinery for winter-related requirements.
The DC stressed that poor road connectivity affects all essential services and directed R&B, PMGSY and MED to finalize their snow-clearance plans well in advance. The Executive Engineer, MED, was directed to visit Gurez and submit an inspection report. GPS devices were also directed to be installed in vehicles deployed for snow clearance.
During the meeting, the Assistant Director FCS&CA Bandipora, informed that essential commodities would be stocked by the end of October. The DC directed the department to submit details of Fair Price Shops and storage facilities.
On healthcare preparedness, the meeting was informed that medicines would be stocked by the end of October. The DC directed the CMO to keep a clear emergency response plan, particularly for pregnant women, and stressed the importance of institutional deliveries and saving every precious life.
Regarding power preparedness, the meeting was informed that adequate HSD has been stocked for generators, with further stocking planned by October. The DC also directed the concerned officer to submit details of the PM Surya Ghar scheme in Tulail and directed concerned officers to organize awareness camps on PM Surya Ghar, Mission YUVA and J&K Bank schemes.
The DC further reviewed the preparedness of SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, Municipal Council and the District Control Room, directing them to keep adequate manpower, equipment and emergency response arrangements in place to deal with any winter-related exigencies.
The DC stressed close coordination among all departments and directed officers to complete preparations well in advance to ensure better and uninterrupted public services during winter.
