BARAMULLA, JUNE 14: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired a review meeting at his office chamber to assess the progress of various works being carried out under the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign, implemented through the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP).

The meeting reviewed key interventions including the construction of water harvesting tanks, gabion structures, irrigation khuls, plantations, and strengthening of Nallah bunds. Officials were directed to accelerate the pace of these activities to ensure their timely completion.

Stressing on the importance of inter-departmental synergy, DC called for effective convergence with MGNREGA, along with active involvement from the Agriculture and Horticulture departments to enhance the programme’s overall impact.

DC further instructed all concerned departments to increase the scale of activities under the campaign and ensure that all progress is regularly uploaded on the designated portal for effective monitoring and transparency.

He emphasized that the campaign plays a crucial role in water conservation and improving irrigation infrastructure, particularly in water-scarce regions of the district.
