DODA, MAY 21: Deputy Commissioner Doda Krishan Lal today chaired a meeting here in the Conference Hall-DC Office Complex to review the arrangements for the Eid-ul-Azha.
The meeting was convened to ensure smooth celebration of the festival and to review the preparedness of the stakeholder departments for providing essential services to the public across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed arrangements related to uninterrupted water and power supply, sanitation, traffic regulation, healthcare facilities, availability of essential commodities, transportation, market checking and fire and emergency services.
Stressing coordinated efforts by all departments, the DC emphasized to facilitate peaceful, hygienic and hassle-free celebration of Eid-ul-Azha throughout the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Jal Shakti Department to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply at Eidgahs, mosques, community centres and other major congregation places during the festive days. The Power Development Department/JPDCL was instructed to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply across the district to avoid inconvenience to the public. The Executive Officer Municipal Committee Doda was directed to intensify sanitation drives, fogging operations, drainage clearance and cleanliness measures around mosques, Eidgahs, market areas and other public places. The EO was further instructed to impose heavy fines on owners of stray animals to maintain sanitation and public convenience in the town.
Traffic Police, Police Department and Transport authorities were asked to ensure proper traffic regulation and smooth public movement, especially in busy market areas and near major prayer venues. The enforcement departments were asked to remove wrong parking and encroachments from the town to avoid traffic congestion during the festival. The Police was directed to deploy adequate security personnel at sensitive locations to maintain law and order during Eid celebrations.
The Health Department was instructed to keep medical teams, ambulances and emergency healthcare services on alert in every block of the district during the festival period. The Chief Medical Officer was directed to ensure availability of medicines and necessary healthcare facilities at all health institutions.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the Food Safety, Legal Metrology and FCS&CA Departments to intensify market inspections to check overpricing, hoarding, food quality and use of standard weighing measures. The department was instructed to ensure adequate availability of essential commodities and uninterrupted supply of LPG gas during the festive season. Tehsildar Doda was asked to monitor the availability and distribution of essential commodities across the district, while flying squads were directed to work in close coordination with concerned departments for effective market checking.
The Animal and Sheep Husbandry Departments were directed to ensure adequate supply of quality mutton during the festival. The Chief Animal Husbandry Officer was instructed to allow mutton supply from slaughterhouses only after proper checking and stamping of slaughtered animals to ensure supply of healthy and disease-free animals for public consumption. Similar instructions were given regarding the supply of Poultry supply.
Additionally, the PWD Department was asked to undertake filling of potholes and repair of damaged road stretches within the Doda and other towns for smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians during the festival. The Fire and Emergency Services Department was instructed to keep fire tenders and emergency response teams ready at strategic locations to meet any exigency.
Among others present at the meeting included Assistant Commissioner Revenue, ASP Headquarters, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Information Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Tehsildar, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti, PWD and JPDCL, TSO FCS&CA, Dy.SP Traffic Doda, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Doda, representatives from the ARTO Office Doda, Auqaf Islamia, Seerat Committee, Beopar Association, Butcher Association and other concerned officers and stakeholders. ADC Bhaderwah, SDMs of Assar, Gandoh and Thathri along with SDPOs attended the meeting through virtual mode.
